My name is Samuel Wellington. I’m 56 years young and in great shape other than having type 1 diabetes! It has been a learning experience and a challenge which I have dealt with since 2011. Needless to say, I felt like giving up a few times, but my mission in life weighs more than the struggle I face daily. Life is about discovering your true mission/purpose and mine just happens to be helping others live their best, optimal life! This is my gift, and it is all I have ever wanted. Working with the ADA, my dream has manifested into being able to reach more people dealing with the same thing I have dealt with! I will be a spokesperson for this cause and motivate others to continue to fight and live the best life possible. Through meditation, exercise, and self-care, we can conquer all obstacles and adversities dealing with this imbalance.

I work out every day and push myself beyond the limits of what people say I should be able to do. The mind is a powerful tool, and I use mine every day to combat diabetes. Let’s work together to help find a cure, or at least more tools to help each other stay strong in this fight!
