The American Diabetes Association® (ADA) recognizes the release of the new dietary guidelines as an important opportunity to advance health and prevent chronic disease for all Americans. We are encouraged that these new guidelines identify the unique needs of people with chronic metabolic conditions like diabetes.

As the nation’s leading organization dedicated to ending diabetes and helping people thrive, the ADA supports evidence-based guidance that promotes practical, accessible, and culturally responsive healthy eating patterns. Ensuring that families and communities can translate food and nutrition guidance into real-world choices is essential to improving health outcomes.

The ADA looks forward to continuing to work with policymakers, health care professionals, and community partners to strengthen nutrition policies and programs that help prevent diabetes and improve quality of life.
