Panelists to Discuss Supporting a Healthier Workforce

The American Diabetes Association® (ADA) is proud to once again host its annual State of Diabetes: Orlando on November 21, during American Diabetes Month®, at The Center for Health & Wellbeing in Winter Park, Florida.

“Enhancing diabetes care within the workplace and community is not just a health initiative; it’s an investment in productivity, wellbeing, and a stronger, more informed society,” said Mica Lill, the ADA’s executive director, Tampa/Orlando area. “By prioritizing preventive measures and support systems, we empower individuals to thrive, fostering healthier environments for everyone. Through State of Diabetes, the American Diabetes Association is proud to partner with leaders in all industries to create this movement.”

In Florida, approximately 2,071,000 adults, or 11.4% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes. Each year, an estimated 107,700 adults in Florida are diagnosed. The annual State of Diabetes event serves as a pivotal gathering, uniting employers, industry leaders, health care providers, and community experts. On a shared platform, professionals engage with an expert panel in critical discussions on how to leverage ADA resources to address the contemporary landscape of diabetes and the financial impact on employers and employees. Discussions are followed by a networking session.

Support of esteemed organizations, such as Eli Lilly, DaVita, and Advent Health, not only enhances our event, but also demonstrates their commitment to our community.

“At DaVita, we are committed to accelerating our communities towards a healthier tomorrow. We are honored to be a presenting sponsor of State of Diabetes: Orlando to reinforce our dedication to foster important conversations about addressing the barriers and issues facing patients in today’s health landscape,” said Andrea Pizzuti, vice president of DaVita.

“At the AdventHealth Diabetes Institute, we recognize the impact diabetes has on the health of our community, which is why we're proud to support the State of Diabetes event to enhance awareness and care for those affected,” said Margaret White, vice president of the AdventHealth Digestive Health Institute & AdventHealth Medical Group. “By collaborating with the American Diabetes Association, we strive to provide critical education, innovative research, and compassionate care, ensuring every individual receives the support they need to feel whole and lead a healthy, fulfilling life."

Over 38 million Americans are living with diabetes, and with health care costs at an all-time high, people with diagnosed diabetes have on average 2.6 times higher medical expenditures than those without. This year’s esteemed panelists will share their expert perspectives during the session, Supporting a Healthier Workforce: Diabetes, Prevention, Resources, and Management Strategies for Employers.

Registration is free and open to employers and health care providers. To learn more and register, visit /SODOrlando. Media interested in previewing the event can schedule an interview by emailing press@
