The American Diabetes Association® (ADA) is proud to once again host its annual State of Diabetes: Daytona community event and expo on November 8, during American Diabetes Month®, at The Mori Hosseini Center. The community day of access and education will offer no-cost health screenings, resources, and information from leading diabetes experts on how to better manage health.

“Enhancing diabetes care within the workplace and community is not just a health initiative, it’s an investment in productivity, wellbeing, and a stronger, more informed society. By prioritizing preventive measures, and support systems, we empower individuals to thrive, fostering healthier environments for everyone. Through State of Diabetes, the ADA is proud to partner with leaders in all industries to create this movement,” said Mica Lill, the ADA’s executive director, Tampa/Orlando area.

In Florida, approximately 2,071,000 adults, or 11.4% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes. Each year, an estimated 107,700 adults in Florida are diagnosed. The annual State of Diabetes event serves as a pivotal gathering of influential figures across various sectors, bringing together individuals living with diabetes, their caregivers, and those interested in learning more about living a healthy lifestyle.

“We at the Halifax Health Lohman Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology are dedicated to supporting individuals at every stage of their journey with diabetes. By providing comprehensive care, education, and resources, we empower our community to thrive and achieve better health outcomes. We’re proud to collaborate with the American Diabetes Association to bring events like State of Diabetes to our community, fostering meaningful dialogue and driving progress in diabetes care,” said John Guthrie with Halifax Health.

“Lowell and I are proud to partner with the American Diabetes Association and Halifax Health to provide important diabetes educational information. It is our hope that together we make the lives of those thriving with diabetes easier,” said philanthropist Nancy Lohman.

Over 38 million Americans are living with diabetes, and with health care costs at an all-time high, people with diagnosed diabetes have on average 2.6 times higher medical expenditures than those without.
